Never apologize for being awesome… don’t do and act in ways you think people want you to.
Be real, be honest, give yourself permission to have a stance, to have an opinion, and even if that opinion is not popular opinion, stand by it.
Have a backbone, have guts. Be who you REALLY are. Not who you think people want you to be.
You will never get true respect that way. Maybe for a while. But never forever.
Have a point of view. Speak your mind. Say what you feel. Because in the end when it’s all said and done, did you live a life you are proud of, or did you live a play, a script, or a movie with false facts, and false opinion just NOT to offend people.
Did you live to win, or not to lose?
Look if you are living life right you will ruffle feathers at some point. That’s just par for the course of living authentically. Living authentically does NOT mean trying to be a perfect person. It means trying to be the best version of you. What resonates with you. People will love you and dislike you. If everyone likes you something is wrong. But that is OK.
The right people should love you and the wrong ones, well. We have no time for them anyhow.
I listened to a podcast today about how to act on social media.
Funny how people are clueless to their own ridiculousness but so quick to point out others ridiculousness.
A common threads amongst humans.
The most important strength one can have isn’t being grateful, it isn’t delivering any sort of canned response, or perceived happiness to others.
It is being happy with oneself, delivering your own real happiness first.
To be happy with oneself, one has to be fully, and unapologetically, honest with one’s OWN short comings, weakness as WELL as their strengths.
Are you happy with yourself?
DO you look in the mirror in the AM and go, I have done right by the majority of people I have done my best, I love me?
Or do you hide, and are unsure what you are or who you have become? Do you live the code or just speak about it?
Do you say?
I am not perfect, but I love these imperfection as much if not MORE than my strengths because that is what makes me a living breathing human being!
It is important to know thyself.
Know who you are and who you are NOT. Once you know that it’s much easier then to navigate through life.
You hold on to what resonates with you, and discard the rest.
It’s ok to chose sides, it’s ok to have a say, and have a stance, it’s ok to be a real person, and make a choice. It is OK to be YOU. Without apologies.
You don’t have to be a carbon copy of someone else.
Or worse some fabricated perfect persona, too afraid to be who you and everyone around you knows it. Worse off YOU know it. Too afraid to show one’s real colors because in reality some of their real true colors are dark and muddled.
This is false marketing of self. A terrible disease that is perpetuated by social media. Create a persona one thinks others will like, and respect. Rather than BE a person (in real life) others LOVE AND RESPECT.
Marketers who speak the loudest, will tell you how their marketing crushes so well. But often it is simply convincing themselves.
You see marketing is simply icing on a cake. Let no one tell you different.
If you have no cake, icing will never hold up in the shape of a cake long enough to fool everyone.
Build a cake first, then ice it. Here here to the people who have the guts to be who they really are without apologies.
Don’t let the noise of others opinion drown out your own inner voice. – Steve Jobs
Or one I like even better.
Wolves don’t lose sleep over the opinion of sheep.
